Heidelberg 4 - Hiram 1
There was much speculation among the Heidelberg players for which Kevin the signs had been made. When he recognized us, our Kev thought they were brilliant. After all, the American guys' parents are in the stands game after game. The guys from England basically have no fans. So he invited us to an after-game cookout the parents had held for the team. Since the parents had never seen us before, we told them we were Kevin's North American Supporters Club. He loved that!
Then Kevin took us to see the house he shares with five other players. It is a typical college boy house with dirty, unmatched furniture, messy bedrooms and a poster of imitation lesbians adorning the living room wall. So, we sat for a bit with a gang of boys, drinking jungle juice. I think one of the guys told me it was made with beer, lemonade and vodka. To be honest, at first sip it tasted a little like Corona with too much lime. After two glasses the taste hinted of vomit more than Corona with lime. But really, a vomit-flavored concoction is practical. The taste going down prepared them for the taste coming up. Kevin said after their jungle juice party, they were going to hit the downtown bars. We left before the party really got rolling, but my guess is that the majority of the boys passed out before midnight after drinking that vile punch. We'll see, eh? Especially because I drove home, went upstairs to read, read a few pages and promptly fell asleep. Oh, I know, I'm not a college boy... but that stuff was potent.
Before we left, we reminded Kevin about Thanksgiving. This year we're not doing the family event in Columbus. Since I can get paid holiday hours on Thanksgiving morning, I'm going to work, then have my mom and a bunch of English college boys, who can't go home for the holiday, over for dinner. It's going to be great.
